Lime Wire LLC ("Lime Wire") is the sole owner of the information collected on this website, the LimeWire file-sharing program (both LimeWire BASIC and LimeWire PRO) ("LimeWire") as well as whatever information may be provided to or collected by LimeWire Customer or Technical Support. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this policy. Lime Wire collects information from our users at several different points and times as disclosed below.
Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's hard drive containing information about the user. At this time, Lime Wire uses cookies on our website. Their use will in no way be linked to any personally identifiable information while on our site.
Links
This web site and the LimeWire program contain and generate links to other sites and IP addresses. Please be aware that Lime Wire is not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site or link to outside IP addresses and to read the privacy statements of each and every website and IP address that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by this web site and by LimeWire Software.
"LimeLinks" and Your Search Queries
As with all programs that connects you to a public peer-to-peer based network such as Gnutella (referred to as the "P2P Network" in the LimeWire program), it is possible for your search queries (i.e., the word or phrase that you search for) to be viewed or "listened" to by other users accessing the P2P Network. Given sufficient resources, another user on the P2P Network could collect the search terms of each of the millions of searches input everyday into the P2P Network. This is true of all program which enables access to a public peer-to-peer based network. Lime Wire does not do this, could not do this and has no desire to do this.
However, when you input as a search query into the LimeWire program an artist name, song title or album title, or their common variants or misspellings, that Lime Wire has available for purchase at the LimeWire Store, Lime Wire may record this search query as well as the fact of whether or not you clicked any of the links that were presented to you in response to your search query. Lime Wire will not record any search query input by you which is NOT the name of a LimeWire Store available artist name, song title or album title or their common variants or misspellings. None of the information we record will be connected with your IP address or any other personally identifying information.
Log Files and IP addresses
For the website and in some cases the LimeWire program, we use IP addresses to analyze trends, administer the site, track user's movement, and gather broad demographic information for anonymous aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked by Lime Wire to any personally identifiable information. However, users should be aware that both static and dynamic IP addresses can be mapped back to users on most ISPs based on the users login time and recorded information.
Customer or Technical Support
When you contact LimeWire Customer or Technical Support, whatever information you provide, either at our request or voluntarily, such as your name, email address or other contact information, credit card information (in case of a billing issue), your stated reason for requesting Customer or Technical Support, or the contents of any electronic communications, as well as the your associated IP address will be collected by Lime Wire. This information will primarily be used to provide the Support you request, but it may be used to analyze trends, administer the site, track user problems and contribute to the gathering of broad demographic information for anonymous aggregate use. Demographic information will not contain any personally identifying information.
How We Use The Information We Collect
We may, at our election and without further notice to you, share the information we collect with our partners and advertisers. In such cases, the information will be presented in an anonymous manner that is not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person.
We may partner with another party to provide specific services. When the user signs up for these services, we will share names, or other contact information that is necessary for the third party to provide these services. The LimeWire Facebook Application
When you use the LimeWire program you will be given the opportunity to connect to your Facebook account using the LimeWire Facebook Application. By choosing to do so you understand and agree that the LimeWire software running on your computer will be given access to certain data related to your Facebook friend list. The LimeWire Facebook Application will use this information only to tell which of your Facebook friends also have the LimeWire Facebook Application and whether those friends are logged in or not, and to display this information to you in the LimeWire program. Lime Wire may also collect and store any of your Facebook data that is collected by the LimeWire software running on your computer. Such data will be used only for the purpose of operating and improving the functionality of the LimeWire program, and we will never share such data with third parties.
The LimeWire Store
The LimeWire program enables access to the LimeWire Store. The LimeWire Store offers digital content for purchase. Use of the LimeWire Store requires you to accept additional, separate terms of service and agree to an additional, separate privacy policy. These will be presented to you for your agreement should you choose to join the LimeWire Store.
Notification of Changes
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on our Homepage so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under circumstances, if any, we disclose it. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we will notify registered users by way of an e-mail or instant messaging or similar method, and/or by posting a notice on our website. Any such changes, together with the remainder of any unaltered version of this Privacy Policy will constitute Lime Wire's Privacy Policy at the time of such notice.
