I did not authorize this purchase. What should I do?

First, check your billing statement to make sure that you made your purchase at www.limewire.com. Here's how to check:

  1. Does it say "LIME WIRE LLC" next to your charge?
    If not, the charge was made through a different company, and Lime Wire is unable to refund your charge. Sites such as Mp3musichq.com, MP3DownloadHQ.com, etc. are in no way associated with Lime Wire. To contact the vendor, use the phone number listed next to your purchase on your billing statement. If there is no number listed, contact your credit card company and explain the situation.
  2. Have you made sure that it does NOT say "Membership" or "Subscription" on your bill or confirmation e-mail?
    If you purchased a subscription or membership, the purchase was not made through www.limewire.com. Buying LimeWire PRO is a one-time purchase; there is nothing to cancel, no subscription or membership, and no recurring fees.

Answer YES to both? If you're sure the purchase was made through Lime Wire, that means that someone came to www.limewire.com, entered your credit card information, and authorized the transaction. Check to see if a family member made the purchase--often a son or daughter is responsible.

If neither you nor a member of your household made the purchase, it is possible that you have been the victim of identity fraud. Contact our Support staff here, or call the number listed on your billing statement, and Lime Wire will be happy to help you resolve the situation.

My purchase was rejected. Why was my debit card charged?

To protect against fraud and identity theft, www.limewire.com rejects purchases if billing information does not match the information on file for that card. Each time a purchase attempt is rejected, the card is charged and then immediately credited the purchase amount.

Unfortunately, when a debit card is charged, the bank puts the charge amount on hold, so it is temporarily inaccessible. You will be able to access the charge amount again as soon as the bank processes the credit, which takes 5-10 days. We apologize for this inconvenience, but after we've issued the credit, we are unable to assist you further. To expedite the credit processing, contact your bank and explain that the credit has already been issued.'
